1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how the Syncrics browser extension ("we," "our," or "the extension") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our Chrome extension to fetch and download lyrics from Spotify.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Authentication Data

To access Spotify's lyrics API, we require your Spotify authentication cookie (sp_dc). This credential:

• Is provided voluntarily by you through the extension settings
• Is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's secure storage API
• Is only used to authenticate with Spotify's servers to fetch lyrics
• Is never transmitted to any third-party servers

2.2 Local Data Storage

Our extension stores the following data locally on your device:

• User Preferences: Filename format settings, lyrics type preferences
• Authentication Cache: Temporary TOTP secrets (expires every 24 hours)
• Top Songs Cache: Temporary cache of top songs list to improve performance

2.3 Data We Do NOT Collect

• Personal identification information (names, emails, addresses)
• Browsing history outside of Spotify
• Location data
• Financial information
• Usage analytics or tracking data

3. How We Use Your Information

The locally stored data is used exclusively to:

• Authenticate with Spotify's internal API to fetch synced lyrics
• Remember your preferences for a personalized experience
• Reduce API calls through caching
• Provide the core functionality of the extension

4. Data Storage and Security

4.1 Local Storage Only

All data is stored locally on your device using Chrome's secure storage mechanisms. We do not transmit, upload, or store any of your data on external servers (other than the necessary authentication calls to Spotify itself).

4.2 Data Retention

• Authentication Data: Stored until you manually clear it or uninstall the extension
• TOTP Cache: Automatically expires after 24 hours
• Preferences: Stored until manually cleared or extension is uninstalled

5. Third-Party Services

Our extension connects to the following third-party services:

• Spotify (*.spotify.com): To authenticate and fetch lyrics data
• GitHub (raw.githubusercontent.com): To fetch public authentication secrets

6. Your Rights and Controls

You have full control over your data:

• Access: View your stored data via Chrome extension settings
• Delete: Uninstalling the extension removes all locally stored data
• Control: You can clear your authentication data at any time within the extension

7. Children's Privacy

Our extension does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13 years of age. The extension is designed for general utility purposes.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
